Chemical and physical tests

IMQ offers a wide range of tests to identify the chemical composition of materials and chemical contamination more effectively.

Fire behaviour:

Materiali Halogen-free

  • Determination of chlorine, bromine, fluorine and iodine content.
Verification of corrosivity and toxicity of polymeric materials by scrubbing the gases emitted during combustion through specific liquids and ion chromatography analysis.
    (IEC 60754-1; IEC 60754-3; CEI EN 50267-2-1)
  • Determination of pH and conductivity.
Verification of corrosivity of polymeric materials by scrubbing the gases emitted during combustion through specific liquids and analysis with a pH meter and conductivity meter.
(IEC 60754-2; CEI EN 50267-2-2; CEI EN 50267-2-3)

Low-toxicity materials

  • Determination of toxicity. Verification of the toxicity of polymeric materials by scrubbing the gases emitted during combustion and IR, chromatographic and colorimetric analysis of carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), sulphur dioxide (SO2), hydrogen cyanide (HCN), ammonia (NH3); formaldehyde (CH2O), acrylonitrile (C2H3N), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and halogens. (CEI 20-37/4-0; CEI EN 50305; NF X 70-100-1)

Characterisation of materials:

  • Determination of carbon black and ash content and thermogravimetric analysis. Measurement of the quantity of carbon black, ash, polymer and plasticisers in polymeric materials by means of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). (ISO 247; HD 605 § 2.5.8; HD 605 § 2.5.7)
  • Identification of polymeric matrix. Qualitative methods using Fourier-transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR). (ISO 4650)
  • Classification of flue seals. Verification of conformity to EN 14241-1 by means of characterisation, long-term resistance to heat and condensate, relaxation behaviour and permanent residual deformation of the materials of which flue seals are made. (EN 14241-1, ISO 11358, ISO 2781, ISO 188, ISO 37, ISO 7619-1, ISO 1817, ISO 3384, ISO 815-1, ISO 815-2, ISO 1431-1)

Environmental tests:

  • Resistance to salt mist.
Verification of corrosion resistance in an artificial saline atmosphere.
    (CEI EN 60068-2-11; ISO 9227)
  • Ozone resistance.
Measurement of the capacity of polymeric materials to retain their integrity after prolonged exposure to environments with a low concentration or high concentration of ozone.
    (ISO 1431)
Management system certification is the endorsement enjoyed by organisations that have chosen to equip themselves with efficient management systems and suitable skills and structures, aimed at continuous improvement. And the higher the prestige of the awarding body, the higher the value of the guarantee. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, our laboratories have full capability to put products through all the checks required by the major European directives and international standards. The certifications issued by IMQ are synonymous with trust. They guarantee safety, performance, efficiency and quality standards. More than 10,000 companies have turned to IMQ to certify their products and stand out on the market. Notified body for the main EU directives, IMQ offers tests and CE certifications to assess the conformity of the products to the requirements required to be marketed on the European market. Inspections and audits validate the conformity of electrical installations, equipment, supplies and services with the applicable technical and legislative specifications. IMQ is leader in Europe in the conformity assessment activity, technical partner chosen by Ministries and Authorities for market control purposes. IMQ is a brand recognized by the market as a synonym of safety and quality, and an internationally recognized partner, a valued member of the main international regulatory work groups. All IMQ personnel are required to strictly observe professional secrecy. IMQ has been working for 70 years trying to anticipate the future, to make the present safer.
