Certification of experts in intruder and panic alarm systems and video surveillance - IMQ-AIRVIDEO scheme

 The security and video surveillance industry is changing rapidly as a result of many factors, including:

  • the dissemination of knowledge, including by means of the internet, which has made customers better-informed and more discerning;
  • the technological evolution of all components is not only changing installation methods, but design and maintenance methods too;
  •  as a result of the interoperability and integrability of systems, operators from other sectors (IT, telecommunications, home automation, residential utility installations, etc.), who do not always have specific knowledge of security, are now moving into the industry.

This is compounded by another problem for security and video surveillance system installers and maintenance technicians, in the form of possible claims for damages in the event of a malfunction of the installed system, with potentially damaging financial consequences for the supplier. In this respect, the Court of Cassation has been giving increasing primacy to consumer protection in recent years, with the result that suppliers are called upon to demonstrate their professionalism and adherence to best practice in the event of disputes.
There is therefore an increasing need to train and qualify the professionals responsible for designing, producing and providing security and video surveillance services.

To meet these needs, IMQ has developed the IMQ-AIRVIDEO certification scheme, which is aimed at the following professional profiles:

  1. Technical Manager for intruder and panic alarm systems and video surveillance systems: an individual who has the necessary knowledge, experience and skills to conduct risk assessments, design systems and validate designs in accordance with Articles 4, 5 and 7, paragraph 2, of Decree 37/2008.
  2. Technical Expert in intruder and panic alarm systems and video surveillance systems: an individual who has the necessary knowledge, experience and skills to install, maintain and repair systems and undertake the related planning.

Certification to IMQ-AIRVIDEO meets specific market demand for endorsement of the skills of experts in intruder and panic alarm systems and video surveillance systems, while at the same time preparing trade operators to assimilate European standards relating to the qualification and certification of companies that provide design, installation and maintenance services for these systems. All of the above is carried out within the framework of protecting the interests of end-users, in line with the principles established by the EU.

Management system certification is the endorsement enjoyed by organisations that have chosen to equip themselves with efficient management systems and suitable skills and structures, aimed at continuous improvement. And the higher the prestige of the awarding body, the higher the value of the guarantee.
