Lifts

IMQ can test and inspect lifts, goods’ lifts, escalators and conveyor belts.

IMQ is a Notified Body for the Ministry of Economic Development for inspections and certification required by the lifts directive 95/16/EC, implemented in Italy by Presidential Decree no. 162 of 30 April 1999, which sets out regulations for the commissioning and testing of privately used lifts and goods’ lifts.

IMQ tests newly installed lifts in accordance with annexes VI and X to the directive (testing).

IMQ carries out routine and non-routine inspections for lifts already in operation in accordance with articles 13 and 14 of Presidential Decree no. 162/99. The service includes inspection scheduling and inspection/scheduling management for companies with sites throughout Italy.

IMQ is also authorised to carry out risk analyses required for compliance with the new Decree on the safety of lifts installed prior to 25 June 1999 (Ministerial Decree 23 July 2009 “Improvement in the safety of systems preceding the directive 95/16/EC”).
The Decree, which was approved by the Ministry for Economic Development and became effective as from 1 September 2009, requires targeted actions to be taken by the owners of lift systems or their legal representatives, depending on the risk situation.
