Measuring instruments directive (MID)
Directive 2004/22/EC
IMQ is a notified body for the measuring instruments directive (MID).
The directive applies to measuring instruments for legal measurements, and harmonises metric/legal requirements for measuring instruments, in terms of metrological performance, physical/mechanical and legal requirements, in order to allow the free movement and use of this equipment within the European Union.
The directive also includes the quality management systems of manufacturers in certification, making manufacturers responsible and protecting consumers, who are end users on a daily basis of measurements taken with these instruments.
