Directives 89/686/EEC and 93/68/EEC
As a notified body, IMQ can carry out certification procedures for conductive clothing, X ray aprons, protective gloves and insulating hoses.
The directive applies to personal protective equipment (PPE).
The procedures demonstrating conformity to the directive vary, depending on the type of PPE:
- for devices intended to protect from risks that may have harmful effects of a slight extent, the manufacturer's declaration of conformity is sufficient;
- for devices that protect from risks that are considerable but not lethal, EC type examination by a notified body is required;
- for devices intended to protect from the risk of death, or serious permanent injury, EC type examination is required, in addition to the periodic sampling of production (article 11A) or approval of the production quality system (article 11B), by a notified body.
